Use Console Call to Supply Audio for Desktop SharingRecently a customer asked me for more information on using Console Call to deliver a teleconference's audio at at desktop sharing session. Shouldn't be a problem, I replied, and then added, "Let's test it." His desktop sharing program is GoToMeeting, which typically requires a conference call so that guests can hear the host in the live event. No problem - using Console Call, he can make sure all of his customers are on the call, and can control it with the Console.
Console Call's WebPresenter software provides for setting up an actual web event, complete with the audio on the phone and on the web, and slides on a screen that also has links to content or other URL locations. Hearing audio from a meeting on the web turns it into a webinar, by definition. There's a special web page, assigned to an event, where attendees can listen in while they watch the meeting. It is created and managed in Console Call, under "My Events." By setting up a live meeting with our WebPresenter, and having his client launch that meeting from his browser, he can hear everything going on in the call, as long as his browser window is open. There is no extra hassle or expense to do this. Our WebPresenter does not support desktop sharing, but it does a great job with Powerpoint slide decks. The only extra step our customer needed to do was create an event in our WebPresenter and then start it at the correct day and time, so the webinar starts. No slides are necessary, but we recommend at least one nice one with his company name and/or picture on it. Many desktop sharing and online meeting programs offer free bridgelines, which commonly suffer from the ailments of "free conference calls," unexpected disconnections, noise, difficulties with muting and unmuting, to name a few. With a Console Call bridgeline, you can easily make your high-quality phone conference call the central method of communicating, and then add additional capabilities as they become available. And now, you can connect via Skype to any Console Call bridgeline, by searching the contact named "joinconference" in Skype. It will automatically dial the connection number, and all you and your guests need to do is enter the appropriate bridgeline code, followed by the pound sign. We take advantage of a high-quality audio codec that is even better than the public one Skype furnishes to other customers. If you are using a headset with microphone, you will appreciate the hands-free ease of use and clear audio this provides.
